This month we have the pleasure of introducing Javier Marquez, a musician who really deserves to be mentioned.
I virtually met Javier through Iván Martínez Lacámara, who mentioned Javier several times.
He's also one of Cinematic Alpha's first customers and then testimonial, so in a way, a really nice friendship has formed.
Javier Márquez is an award-winning composer, producer, and musician born in Córdoba (Spain) in 1978. He studied guitar and oboe at the Córdoba Music Conservatory. Attracted by instrumental music and composition, he has been influenced by different styles such as classical music, New Age, folk, and certain types of fusion. He composes, arranges, and produces music at his studio and participates in other musicians' recordings, providing oboe, ethnic flutes, Armenian duduk, Bulgarian kaval, oboe, whistles, soprano sax, and guitars.
In May 2021, he released his album “The shelter point.”
WINNER Hollywood Music in Media Award on November 2021 with his track “The shelter point” in New Age/Ambient category.
WINNER Double Silver Medal Global Music Awards on January 2022 with his album “The shelter point” in Best New Age and Best Album categories.
In 2020 he participated recording Bansuri, Duduk, and Kaval (as featuring artist) on the track “Sirdes Mouté u Tapour” of last album “ARA” of violinist Ara Malikian, actually released.
He participated in recording the new album by Pipo Romero, “Ideario” under the label Universal Music and is part of the Quintet in live shows. In 2021 coproduced and recorded oboe and whistles in his new album “Ikigai”.
He collaborated in the recording of the soundtracks of the composer Pablo Cervantes for the film “Jaulas,” “El Prenauta” short film, and “Promesas de arena” series for Spanish national TV and Amazon Prime Video.
He participated in the recordings for Pavel Urkiza's “La ruta de las almas” project and as a component “La ruta de las almas” Band. Furthermore, he was presented in EXIB music in Bilbao in 2014 and Global Cuba Fest in Miami (USA) in 2016. Also, he collaborated in the recording of albums “Filin Progresivo: 2004-2014” and “Regreso a la tierra” (which will be released in 2022).
This year he has recorded duduk for the new album of the great folklorist of the Iberian Peninsula and singer Eliseo Parra.
He has taken oboe courses with Miguel Quirós, Vicente Llimerá, Thomas Indermühle, José Manuel González, Armenian Duduk classes with Hovhannes Karakhanyan; guitar courses with Antonio Toledo, Horacio Salinas (Inti Illimani), Toquinho, Javier Ruibal and Master Classes with Pat Metheny, Djavan, Ralf Towner (Oregon), Fito Páez and Marcus Miller (bass).
In 2012, he released the album “Si mi niño se durmiera,” a compilation of lullabies performed with arrangements in different modern musical styles. This project was financed by the Regional Ministry of Education of the Andalusian Regional Government.
He produced the albums of Luis Medina named "Presente Continuo” and “DuDú” with winds, recording, editing, and mixing. He has been a member of this band since 2006 until now.
